Quartz

I used to spend a lot of time
Just digging in the ground
Until I found this special stone.
It was waiting to be found

Though some might call it worthless
So boring and so mean
They do  not see the marvels
That are waiting to be seen

Nor do they know how water
Brings magic to these stones
It adds a new dimension
So much better than old bones

The darker tiny facets
Are replaced by diamond light
The bright reflective beauty
Never darkens in the night

All will shine so very bright
But none of them for long
Their fascinating shimmering
Will carry you along

A dusty outer shell conceals
A brilliant blinding beam
Of light, and incandescent
Like a wondrous snowy dream

Tom and I share a love of stones. In this poem he has chosen the very first stone he found. I am really proud of how he uses all my teaching and applies it to describing the stone and how it captivated him

The Ant

Ants are tiny little creatures
Furry legs, not many features
Picnics are their favourite food
Turning up to spoil the mood
They are rather long and thin
Sweets and sugar bring them in
They are little super builders
How they do it...it bewilders

Haiku

Delicate anthers
Actors in blossom's playhouse
Conceal danger

The tree of blossom
Swaying gently in the wind
Chainsaw approaches

Delicate flowers
Concealing painful rigid spikes
Deceptive beauty

Tom is writing his own work now. These are his Haiku and his painting.

He has also won a scholarship to Abingdon School.

Autumn by Tom

This poem shows how far we have come in a year. There is very little of me in this poem.
